I’m doing job search again—feeling that noticeable strain of “Job Search…”

There have been quite a few interesting postings—the sort of postings you start to view after you get through all the generic key words you can muster… and then it’s on to, “well….maybe I could…”

A job with this description came up:

“Tactfulness and firmness are required in frequent contacts with violent, suicidal, and mentally disturbed inmates. The employee is subject to a hazardous and confining working environment.”

I read this to my wife.

She said, “don’t do that.”

I agreed.

So I had Thursday off. My wife and I got a camera as a wedding gift (the Cannon t3i)… and I wanted to try it out, along with the Christmas gift Mac:)

Love the way perspectives get blurred around... guess that's the math of photography. Thanks to my good friend, Tariq.

Frustration settles in when I realize I’ve just spent the majority of my “blogging time” trying to decide on what color font I want most…

I went with black.

“The enjoyment of God is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied. To go to heaven, fully to enjoy God, is infinitely better than the most pleasant accommodations here. Fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, or children, or the company of earthly friends, are but shadows; but God is the substance. These are but scattered beams, but God is the sun. These are but streams. But God is the ocean.”

— Jonathan Edwards

It’s pretty killer that we get to be intimately involved with something so glorious—so removed yet so pervasively existent that it has implication for…me sitting at a computer at work.

I want to write a circus story based on The End of the World by Archibald MacLeish. I love that poem; ran cross it randomly while I was looking through some site. It has this weird, frenzied wonder to it. And honestly I’m a sucker for apocalyptic themed things. (That feels really weird to write, actually…).

The glee on these kids’ faces just gets at me. The sort of stuff that stays with you and makes you want to go back.

I want to give away freely whatever I have. I want that sort of perspective—that shared-ness of thoughts—cultivated in me. I love sharing stuff; it the worst when I realize that because of perfectionism, apathy, or fear I’ve left stuff unshared.

This blog is an attempt to share more, as well as a sort of public accountability of creative stuff in me. My hope is to post…anything, something, whatever—thoughts, stories, photos, poems, videos, maybe even a ditty or two—once a week or so.

God bless us.
